Two Reasons That You Feel Stuck (Part 1)

Are you familiar with that feeling of being stuck?  You want to make a change in one or more areas of your life, but can’t seem to do it and you don’t know why. It can be agonizing and stressful, not knowing which way to turn or what to do next.  The good news is that there are only two reasons for your “stuckness” and you can overcome both of them.

In this post we will explore one of these reasons.

Reason #1 – Confusion … or so you think…

confused monkeyMany people who seek out life coaching or a Human Design reading or some other form of guidance, cite “confusion” as the thing that keeps them stuck.  They come looking for clarity. And while they do usually gain amazing clarity about what’s blocking them and what to do about it, they don’t really get unstuck and make the change until they release the resistance which keeps them in confusion.

Resistance is a term used to describe a state of non-acceptance about someone or something in your life.  When it comes to being stuck, the “someone” is some aspect of yourself and the “something” is a shift in perception which would open you up to change.  You can usually tell when you are in resistance, because there is a story attached.   And the story is a little game the mind plays with you so that you remain safely in it’s control.

Change is scary for the primitive aspects of our brain, and any time you come close to stepping out of your comfort zone to make any kind of a change, the mind will have something to say about it. The trick is to know that mind does this, and to avoid playing its game.

The story of “confusion” is a favorite little game that the mind loves to play, and it usually goes something like this:

“I am so confused about what to do next.  I don’t know what to do.  I wish someone would tell me what to do.”

How to avoid the mind’s story-telling games and release resistance.

The secret is surrender. Are you willing to let the mind chatter on about how stuck and confused you are while you go about the business of following your inner guidance?  This is the first step to surrender.  Accept the mind’s input without giving it power over your decisions.

The truth is that deep inside you know the next step.  You may not want to accept it, because of what the mind tells you about what you “should” do.  You may not want to accept it, because it would mean that someone else won’t like it.  You may really be resistant to it, because the next step may not have anything to do at all with taking outer action…. something that the mind, who often screams “DO SOMETHING!!!!!” in its panicked way, can’t stand.

You have an inner guidance system which keeps you out of confusion and resistance.  If you feel stuck you aren’t listening to it.

Do you want to know how to listen to your guidance system and overcome the stress of confusion?
